It also has several special markings – the Order of the Red Banner, a tactical number (“116”) and a name written in Cyrillic that translates as “Leningradets”. The inside box graphics and finished display case base create a diorama depicting a winter battle. Acquired August 2006 from Burbank's House of Hobbies, the tank and its box are still like new. When introduced, its 76.2mm F-34 tank gun was more powerful than its contemporaries, and its 60-degree sloped armor provided good protection against anti-tank weapons. The T-34 was the mainstay of the Soviet Red Army armored forces throughout the war. Its general specifications remained nearly unchanged until early 1944, when it received a firepower upgrade with the introduction of the greatly improved T-34/85 variant. Total production of T-34/76 tanks was around 35,000.
