Mechanical: Superior quality construction consisting of a 30-micron premium silver plated body, center pin and crimp ferrule. Silver offers the lowest contact resistance and makes the center contact tip a breeze to solder. DuPont™ Teflon® is the dielectric known for its inert properties, permittivity, strength, and higher withstanding voltages over a wide range of frequencies and temperatures. The premium silver plating assures a quick and positive soldering experience for the center pin. Crimping the coax braid to the connector body eliminates the chance of damaging the coax with heat; especially if using LMR-400 or other 400 series low loss cables. The new low loss coax cables use a gas injected polyethylene dielectric which is very sensitive to heat. Over heat it while soldering the braid to the connector body on a non crimp type connector and the foam insulator can easily distort and melt damaging the cable by altering the characteristic impedance of the coax. Crimp it and forget damage caused by heat.
